Lamps Addiction

lamps

I don’t know what it is about lamps, but they are addictive.  It’s got to be part of our nesting instinct as females…the warm soft light, the shape of the shade and curve of the base that soothe the eye, and define the space.  How a lamp rests on a table to complete the balance and harmony of a room.

A lamp is like that perfect little branch that dove outside my window finds to complete the curve of her nest, and protect her baby eggs. Then she sits, and relaxes in her creation, and warms her coming offspring. This goes for all lighting, especially not excluding chandeliers, which really can be made and found now of the most interesting materials.

In my hunt for something defined and thoughtful, I found this super cool City Lamp by Umbu on Etsy.

It’s made of actual city maps, and this particular artist is from Switzerland, so probably maps of Switzerland, even cooler…

Umbu even uses magazine paper strips.  These Red Stripe Lamps  are made from French Interior Magazines…

Making lamps is something I have always wanted to try. I have a feeling though, that the finished piece including its proper function is much more difficult to pull off than it appears, don’t you think?

How about some table lamps now?

This table lamp, made of concrete is really anchored, but appears light and airy at the same time…

Fmcdesign makes this, and even concrete pendants.

Want a recycled outboard engine for a table lamp?  This Skeg Table Lamp from GetBentMetal will certainly bring discussion in the room…

lampsOf course a table lamp of wood will go in any room, and this shapely wood lamp from wengewoodworks, is simply sensuous…
