Featured Handmade Artisan Interview...

                               Featured Artisan...
             Stephanie Quach~Pendants by Steph

How did you get into design?

Purely for fun!  I saw some pendants that I liked and started tinkering with the stamps and became addicted!

What motivated you to start your own handmade business?

Growing up my mom was always trying to save money (she still does actually!).  Everything she did was to save here and there so that we could eventually buy a home.  That being said, if my sister and I wanted anything, my mom's first thought would be, "how can I make that for less?"  She made a lot of our clothes when we were growing up.  So when I saw these pendants, I felt the same way!  How can I make these to fit my needs (very simple), still be fashionable (gotta be fashionable, right?!), and be cost effective.  So I invested in a few stamps and started making them for friends.  Then these friends started making requests for their friends and their friends started ordering for their friends... well, you get the picture! So, here I am... a business owner!

What is your favorite item you are currently selling?

My favorite item will always be the first one I made for myself and my close friends.  It is similar to the Rebecca pendant but back then I did not have decorative stamps to embellish my pendant.  My pendant featured my children's names on a square washer with a heart charm with our last name initial.  I like the simplicity of my pendant then... and still do!  And these have been ordered the most.  I also love my current wedding cake forks.  Those are a huge hit!

Do you have a favorite design, website, or other handmade seller you get inspiration from?

I grab my inspiration all over the web and blog world ... I couldn't tell you one in particular!  (sorry) I also look to see what moms wear and try to come up with something that would fit moms of varying interests.

Thank you Steph...we love your work!  Stay tuned everyone for Steph's personalized hand stamped pendant to be offered in our first, upcoming giveaway!
